I'm working on a wedding cake which is all white on white in buttercream. There should be traditional swags and decorations that give a classic image of wedding cake beauty. Which leads me to research the question: what decoration details are the best ones to use? I've collected quite a few lovely wedding cakes, and chopped off everything but the close-up of the details. See what you think about these.

I like the second down right hand side cake, especially the upside down scroll.

That one caught my eye as well -- it's very architectural. There's a similar element on the cake two below that on the middle tier. It's not as well defined but very similar.
ReplyDeleteGotta go with the heart designing on the side (red and gray ribbon detail picture) and the one with the scrolling along the bottom tier of the cake (last picture on the far right) Of course it all comes down to preference. If you saw my cake - it had that same scrolling - guess some things you like never change!!!! :) I like it because its simple, yet elegant. Like your blog Vanessa!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stephanie! I think the little hidden details like hearts in amongst the scrolls and the romantic piping on the last cake on the right are what really catches your eye. I've always been a fan of the elaborate white work and I'm excited about making a beautiful wedding cake that will make the bride and groom happy. And it tastes great too!
